NFL 2010 Week 10 Game Recaps: Denver Broncos vs Kansas City Chiefs

Denver shook off their previous losses and came out with all guns blazing in a shootout with the Kansas City Chiefs in Denver, CO. The Broncos came out on the winning end by a score of 49-29. Passing was the name of the game today and both sides of the ball threw for over 750 yards combined.

Denver got on the score board quick in the first quarter when Kyle Orton completed a pass to Knowshon Moreno, who ran in for a 17 yard touchdown. Orton then hit Brandon Lloyd for a 6 yard TD pass. Kyle Orton wasn't done yet in the first quarter as he threw his 3rd touchdown of the day to Jabar Gaffney, who hauled in the 40 yard touchdown to put the Broncos, after the extra point kick, the early 21-0 lead.

The second quarter didn't fare any better for the Chiefs, although they did get on the board. Tim Tebow came in and went in for a 1 yard touchdown, then that was followed up by a Jason Hunter 75 yard fumble return to put the Broncos up 35-0. The Chiefs finally scored with a minute and a half remaining in the half when Jamaal Charles hauled in a 5 yard TD pass from Matt Cassel. With 1 second on the clock before halftime, Ryan Succop hit a 40 yard field goal for the Chiefs.

Denver continued bleeding the Chiefs in the 3rd quarter when Spencer Larsen caught a 3 yard TD pass From Tim Tebow to make it a 42-10 ball game. Matt Cassel then threw his 2nd TD pass of the game to Dwayne Bowe.

In the 4th quarter, it was Denver who struck again when Brandon Lloyd caught a 15 yard TD pass From Kyle Orton - his 4th TD of the game. Chris Chambers then caught an 11 yard TD pass From Matt Cassel. The Chiefs went for the 2 point conversion and missed leaving the score at 49-23 in favor of the Broncos. It was the Chiefs who would score again late in the game when Matt Cassel found Dwayne Bowe for a 22 yard touchdown pass. They once again went for the 2 point conversion and missed. It was too little, too late for the Chiefs.

Kyle Orton completed 22 of 34 for 296 yards and 4 Tds in the winning effort. Knowshon Moreno ran the ball 22 times for 106 yards. He also caught 3 passes for 50 yards and 1 TD. Tim Tebow completed his only pass of the game for a 3 yard touchdown and he also ran the ball 2 times for 2 yards and a TD. Brandon Lloyd caught 6 passes for 90 yards and 2 TDs. Jabar Gaffney caught 3 passes for 57 yards and 1 TD.

Matt Cassel had a heck of a game throwing the ball for Kansas City. He scored some fantasy football points today for whomever had him on their starting roster. He completed 33 of 53 passes for 469 yards and 4 TDs. Dwayne Bowe had a nice day catching the ball for the Chiefs - he caught 13 passes for 186 yards and 2 TDs. Jamaal Charles caught 5 passes for 80 yards a TD. Chris Chambers caught 4 passes for 36 yards and 1 TD.

NFL 2010 Week 10 Game Recaps: Detroit Lions vs Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills picked up their first win of the season, when they beat the Detroit Lions for a final score of 14-12. The 2-6 Detroit Lions were coming off a tough loss and were heading in to Buffalo to take on the winless Bills. This was a battle of the basement teams on the southern shore of Lake Erie. Both teams were looking for signs of life. The Lions were riding a 24 consecutive game winless streak on the road and their loss against the Bills matches their own record of 25 consecutive winless games on the road.

Fred Jackson started the scoring in the second quarter when he ran in for a 1 yard touchdown for Buffalo. Detroit got on the board when Dave Rayner kicked a 25 yard field goal. In the 3rd quarter, it was Fred Jackson again when he caught a 16 yard TD pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick.

In the 4th quarter things got interesting as Dave Rayner kicked a 45 yard field goal to make the score 14-6 in favor of Buffalo. Detroit came back and almost had a chance to tie the game when Calvin Johnson caught a 20 yard TD pass From Shaun Hill to make it a 14-12 game. The Lions failed to convert the 2 point conversion and the Bills survived the scare to walk away with their first win of the season.

Here are the scores and recaps from the Sat. Dec 4th games.

There were six games on the NBA schedule for Sat. Dec 4. After their dominating performance against Cleveland Thursday night, the Heat were back at home to take on Atlanta. The Cavs meanwhile headed on out to blustery Minnesota to try to pick up the pieces after Miami dismantled them. The 76ers are at home to take on Charlotte. Houston was in Chicago. Orlando, who had 15 wins on the season were in Milwaukee and suffered a loss to the Bucks. The Magic were playing without 4 players who were out with a stomach virus. Dwight Howard, J.J. Redick,Mickael Pietrus, and Jameer Nelson were are all back in Orlando recovering from the virus.

Miami Heat 89 Atlanta Hawks 77 FINAL SCORE

The Heat picked up right where they left off in Cleveland to start the first quarter by outpacing Atlanta. With the exception of a 3 pointer by Mario Chalmers, the rest of the points were scored by the big 3 for the Heat. Dwayne Wade had 6 points. LeBron James scored 9 and Chris Bosh added 8 points to give Miami a 26-15 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter pretty much played out just like the first quarter. The big 3 scoring the bulk of the points. Wade added another 6, James added 7, and Bosh added another 6 points in the second quarter to their scoring totals for the half. Atlanta was led in the half by Josh Smith, who scored 8 points. The Heat hit the locker room for halftime with a decisive 50-36 lead over the Hawks.

Atlanta came out gunning in the second quarter and made the game interesting. They fought back to pull within 2 points of the Heat at the end of the quarter. Miami still had the edge 63-61. It was looking like the Hawks were going to make it a close game...but after getting close a few times Atlanta watched as Miami extended the lead to run out the game.

Chris Bosh ended up leading the Heat in scoring with 27 points. Dwyane Wade scored 26 points and LeBron James ended up with 22 points scored. In total the Big 3 accounted for 75 of the Heat's 89 points. Al Horford led Atlanta with 22 points scored.

Philadelphia 76ers 109 Charlotte Bobcats 91 FINAL SCORE

Philadelphia got off to a fast start and had a huge first quarter fueled by guard Jodie Meeks, who tossed in 20 points. Meeks hit 6 3-point shots in the first quarter. The 76ers had the lead at the end of the first quarter by a 32-16 lead over the Bobcats.

Charlotte chipped away at the 76ers lead to finish the half trailing Philly 56-45. Stephen Jackson led the half in scoring for the Bobcats with 12 points. Jodie Meeks failed to score any points in the second quarter by still finished the half leading the 76ers in scoring with 20 points.

Philly extended their lead in the third quarter as they ended the quarter with an 85-67 lead. The game was never really close for Charlotte as the 4th quarter was no different from the rest of the game and the final score was 109 to 91 in favor of the 76ers.

Jodie Meeks cooled way off after the first quarter but still finished the game leading Philadelphia with 26 points scored. Boris Diaw led Charlotte with 19 points scored.

Chicago Bulls 119 Houston Rockets 116 FINAL SCORE

As expected the Houston and Chicago game was the best competitive game on the schedule - at least in the first quarter when the score was 25-23 in favor of the Bulls. In the second quarter Chicago pulled away from the Rockets and finished the half with a 56-44 lead. Houston fought back in the second half, but fell just short as the Bulls came away with a 3 point 119-116 win.

Minnesota Timberwolves 129 Cleveland Cavaliers 95 FINAL SCORE

The Cavs started this game just like they finished the Heat game - getting outscored nearly 2-1 early in the first quarter. Cleveland seemed to be lost and needed someone to step up to lead the team. They whittled back to finish the quarter trailing the Timberwolves by a score of 37-24. Antawn Jamison scored 10 points for the Cavs in the first quarter.

Things got worse for the Cavs in the second quarter as Minnesota went into halftime with a 73-54 lead over Cleveland. Their play is a carbon copy of their previous defeat to the Miami Heat. I don't know if that game deflated the emotional tires of the Cavs or what, but they just are playing terrible fundamental basketball right now. Chalk up 2 ugly games in a row for the Cavs. Kevin Love led the T-Wolves in scoring in the first half with 20 points through the net.

The Cavs just kept cumbling as the game progressed as Minnesota poured it on in the second half. The final score was a big 34 point victory for the TWolves. The final score was 129-95.

Milwaukee Bucks 96 Orlando Magic 85 FINAL SCORE

Dallas Mavericks 105 Sacramento Kings 103

Chicago Bulls 88 Cleveland Cavaliers 83 FINAL SCORE

But it wasn't enough as the Cavs lost their sixth straight game by a final score of 88-83 to the Chicago Bulls, who improved their record to 12-8 as they stay in first place in the Eastern Conference Central Division. They Bulls had a 21-15 lead after the first quarter. Cleveland nibbled away at the Bulls in the second quarter to come back and actually take the lead at 35-33. However the lead was short lived for the Cavs. With about 1:30 left on the clock before halftime, Chicago rattled off 8 straight points to retake the lead and head into halftime with a 41-35 lead.

Cleveland came out gunning in the second half and outscored Chicago 33-19 in the 3rd quarter to take a 68-60 lead. The Bulls got the best of the Cavs in the fourth quarter outscoring the wine and gold by a score of 28-15. The Cavs were still in it though in the closing minute of the game. With 26 seconds left in the game the Cavs were barely holding on to a 1 point lead. Derrick Rose then put in a basket with 19 seconds left. He was fouled on the play and converted the free throw to make it an 85-83 Bulls lead. The Cavs brought the ball down and had 2 shots at the basket. Mo Williams missed and then Daniel Gibson grabbed the rebound and missed his shot from under the basket. The Cavs were forced to foul the rest of the way. Joakim Noah hit 2 free throws and Ronnie Brewer made 1 of 2 free throws to make it an 88-83 Chicago Bulls win over the Cavs.

New York Knicks 113 Toronto Raptors 110 FINAL SCORE

This was a fairly even game until late in the first quarter when the Raptors got ahead of the Knicks. The score was tied at 26-26 with just over a minute left in the first quarter. That's when Toronto started a scoring run and pulled away from the Knicks in the to take a 12 point lead in the second quarter. However, that lead dwindled as the Knicks battled back. After consecutive 3 pointers by Wilson Chandler and Raymond Felton and a basket by Amare Stoudemire for New York, Andrea Bargnani hit a 3 pointer for Toronto to make it a 56-52 Raptors lead. From that point on for the rest of the first half New York outscored Toronto 7-1. Heading into halftime New York fought back to take a 59-57 lead over the Raptors.

Miami beat Utah for their 6th straight win and are looking like they are starting to hit their stride and gel as a team after a shaky start to the season. Utah had the better record of the two teams coming into the game. LeBron James led the Heat in scoring with 33 points scored. Dwyane Wade had 26 points, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 16 points, and Chris Bosh had 16 points. Al Jefferson scored 25 points for the Jazz.

MLB Offseason Winter News Recap for 2010/11

Here are some of the hot Major League baseball topics. This was originally a post about the hot stories surrounding the winter meetings so you will find those archinved down below. Just remember that some of that information from the winter meetings is outdated. I'll put the most recent newsworthy events at the top and this will serve as a short story news blog and some random musings.

Albert Pujols to end talks with the St. Louis Cardinals

Sources are saying that St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols has rejected the Cardinals latest contract offer and that he will end talks with the team Tuesday. Pujols is in the last year of his contract, which expires after the World Series. Reports are saying that Pujols is seeking a contract in the neighborhood of 10 years and worth $30 Million a year. Good luck Albert. That's a lot of bling bling.

RIP Chuck Tanner

Who could forget the "We are Family" Pittsburgh Pirates, who went on to win the 1979 World Series? The man who guided that team to victory head coach Chuck Tanner passed away today at his home in New Castle, PA. Tanner, who was 82 years old, also coached for the Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox and the Oakland A's. Check out Pittsburgh's Post Gazette article on him here .

Michael Young of the Texas Rangers is in the news again for demanding a trade. In his own words "I want to be traded because I've been misled and manipulated and I'm sick of it". You can check out the story here . It would be nice to know how and/or why the Rangers have misled and manipulated him. Otherwise on paper, Young comes off sounding like sour grapes.

A lot of action happens around the annual MLB winter meetings and this year has been no exception. We've already had some free agents sign on the dotted line and we have a few big fish swimming in the free agent market.

Bob Feller

On a sad note, Hall of fame Cleveland Indians pitching great Bob Feller, who is 92 years old, has been moved to hospice care in Cleveland, Ohio. Here is a detailed story on his condition by Paul "Ask Hoynsie" Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Initally, a story ran in the The Morning Journal by a long time Indians beat writer who wrote that Feller had passed away sparking RIP tweets to come streaming across Twitter. The rumours of his passing were false. The story was removed by the paper and they apologized for the confusion.

Cliff Lee

Cliff Lee is expected to land a large deal. He is looking for some financial security in the form of a longer deal because Cliff's peak demand for him at this point in his career as a player is probably the highest it will get. Now is the time for him to cash in. ....and he will. He is looking for a longer term contract with guaranteed money and he will get it. He's already talked to a few teams, but it's no secret the Yankees want him. 9 times out of 10 what the Yankees want is what the Yankees get. His former teammate C.C. Sabathia has even been enlisted to try to recruit Lee to the big apple. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cliff in pinstripes come the end of the winter meetings. But, on the flipside having been around Cliff for years while he was a Cleveland Indian something tells me that he might shy away from the big apple. That's just a gut feeling though.

On Tuesday it was being reported that Cliff was offered a couple of 7 year deals by two unknown teams. The Texas Rangers are believed to be in the running to bring Lee back. In other Texas news, Nolan Ryan has gone on record saying that the team is not actively shopping Michael Young, but they will listen to any inquiries made on all players. The Angels have also joined in the race to sign Lee.

As for Lee, they listened to offers and on Wed. his agent Darek Braunecker left the winter meetings and said that he may or may not be back. When asked about where Lee would end up all Darek would say was "We're going somewhere". The meetings end Thurs. so it remains to be seen if Lee will have a new team by the end of the week. It is believed that the Yankees offered Lee a 6 year contract worth $140 million to wear the pinstripes. The Red Sox also were being thrown around as one of the teams that may have been one of the teams to offer a 7 year deal. After the Yankees caught wind of the Crawford signing in Boston, they upped their bid to Cliff Lee. They increased their offer to 7 years and for $160 Million Dollars! Lee is expected to make an announcement this weekend.

The closest report I can find out of Texas is this here .

As the waiting on Sat. goes into the night hours Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington has gone on record saying that "That he'll be here" "I think everything that needs to be done has been done. ... We just have to wait". Whatever the offer is on the table from Texas, Washington seems to be confident he will have Cliff Lee back. The Rangers traveled to Arkansas Friday and presented multiple offers to Lee for his consideration.

Carl Crawford

Heading into the last day of the winter meetings, the Red Sox signed Carl Crawford to a big 7-year deal worth $142 million.

Paul Konerko

Paul Konerko re-signed with the Chicago White Sox on Weds. He signed a 3 year deal worth $37.5 million. That was the second biggest deal of the day. The first was First baseman Carlos Pena, who had been the target of numerous teams in the free agent market and late Tuesday night the Chicago Cubs met with his agent to discuss the possiblities of becoming a Cub. The Cubs walked away agreeing to a 1 year deal with Pena reportedly worth $10 million.

Yankees

The Yankees have been busy this offseason with their own free agent players as they resigned Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera to new deals to keep them in New York. I think these 2 deals were a priority for the Yankees to get done so that would free them up to focus on making their free agent pitch to Cliff Lee. However, it has come to light that negotiations were not easy with Jeter and he is not happy about how the negotiations went. The Yankees all time leader in hits with 2,926 was reportedly told to test the free agent market. Jeter said "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't angry how some of this went" when he was announcing the 3 year deal worth $51 million on Tuesday Dec. 7th.

Jayson Werth

Ex-Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Jayson Werth signed on a huge contract with the Washington Nationals that created a buzz amongst other MLB teams. The reports have said that many of the teams aren't happy with the length and amount of the contract he signed as it will be a benchmark for which other free agent players will now use when they are negotiating their own deals. The contract he signed was for 7 years and an astonishing 126 million dollars guaranteed. Werth is good, but not that good. What makes the deal even more interesting is that the Nationals don't seem to be a contending team any time soon so why did they waste all that money on a veteran like Werth when they could have used that money to develop their minor league system? The deal just doesn't make sense.

This blog will be an ongoing blog throughout the winter meetings and throughout the offseason as well so check back frequently for updates.

NBA Scores and Recaps for Dec 16, 2010

After a full NBA schedule last night, there are only 3 games on the schedule for tonight Thurs. Dec. 16. Below is the complete schedule and game coverage.

New Jersey Nets 97 Washington Wizards 89 FINAL SCORE

Rookie John Wall the 1st overall draft pick in the 2010 draft for the Wizards was inactive for the game tonight due to some normal wear and tear/minor injuries.

In the early minutes of the game, the Nets were looking good as they ran out to a nice lead. Washington only hit 1 of their first 10 shots to put them in the hole. Kevin Seraphin finally hit a basket with about 5 minutes left in the first quarter for Washington. Meanwhile the Nets ran out to a big lead on the strength of a 13-0 point run over the Wizards and finished the first quarter with a big 32-17 lead over the Wizards.

Washington battled back in the second half to make it a ballgame that almost went down to the wire. The Wizards got as close as 3 points with under a minute left in the game but New York was able to keep the Wizards in check and win the game by a final score of 97-89.

Devin Harris scored 29 points and Kris Humphries pulled down 17 rebounds for the Nets and Nick Young led the Wizards in scoring with 22 points.

Boston Celtics 102 Atlanta Hawks 90 FINAL SCORE

San Antonio Spurs 113 Denver Nuggets 112 FINAL SCO

NBA Scores and Recaps for Dec 18, 2010

There are 8 games on the NBA schedule tonight for Dec 18. Check back later on in the evening for live blogging coverage of the games.

Philadelphia 76ers 97 Orlando Magic 89 Orlando is sitting behind the Miami Heat in 2nd place in the Southeast. Orlando might be a wild card contender if they keep up their steady playing. The 76ers meanwhile are mediocre at best this year. Might be hard for Orlando to stay focused in this game after a big trading day in which they traded Rashard Lewis to the Washington Wizards for Gilbert Arenas and traded Vince Carter to the Phoenix Suns as part of a 6 player swap - head on over to ESPN to get the latest on that trade.

This was a tight game in the first quarter as the Magic only had a one point edge over the 76ers leading 21-20 heading into the 2nd quarter.

Miami Heat 95 Washington Wizards 94 The Heat now have won 13 games in a row and Washington is sitting in last place in the Southeast Div. while Miami sits in First place in the same division. The Washington Wizards traded Gilbert Arenas to the Orlando Magic for Rashard Lewis yesterday and John Wall missed his 3rd game in a row against the Heat last night.

Washington had Miami's number at the beginning of the game as they wrapped up leading after the first quarter by a score of 25-19 over the Heat. Nick Young had a hot hand for the Wizards hitting for 11 points in the 1st quarter.

Cleveland Cavaliers 109 New York Knicks 92 Coming in to the game, Cleveland was in the middle of a 10 game losing streak. It seems like all the air was let out of them after their first loss to the Miami Heat and LeBron James at the beginning of Dec. The Cavs have been downright terrible since that game, but last night they were able to crack that losing streak with a win over the Knicks.

LA Clippers 100 Chicago Bulls 99

Utah Jazz 95 Milwaukee Bucks 86

San Antonio Spurs 112 Memphis Grizzlies 106

Denver Nuggets 115 Minnesota Timberwolves 113

Portland Trail Blazers 96 Golden State Warriors 95
