The Boston Celtics were in Charlotte to take on the Bobcats in the first NBA game of the night and the Bobcats were able to get the best of Boston and won by a final score of 94-89. It was a close first quarter at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC. Both teams played pretty evenly making for a good game so far as both teams matched each other basket for basket. Boston held a 29-25 lead at the end of the 1st. Rajon Rando tossed in 10 points for Boston while Stephen Jackson ended the 1st quarter with 11 points for Charlotte. Charlotte was able to chip away and grind out a 1 point lead heading into halftime with a 51-50 edge over the Celtics.
The 2nd quarter saw Charlotte's Stephen Jackson get ejected from the game for receiving consecutive technical fouls after complaining to the referees about the foul he made on Kevin Garnett.
Surprisingly, Charlotte was able to hang with Boston through the first 3 quarters of the game and then make a run for the win in the 4th quarter. The Celtics got the lead back and finished off the 3rd with a lead of 69-65.
It was all Charlotte in the 4th quarter as the Bobcats outscored the Celtics by 9 points in the quarter and were able to regain the lead. As the final minutes wound down, they did a good job of holding on to get the upset win over Boston.
Gerald Wallace had a solid game to pace the Bobcats. He finished with 19 points scored and 16 rebounds.
Ray Allen scored 25 points and Paul Pierce added another 22 points in Boston's losing effort. Rajon Rondo, after leading the team in scoring in the first quarter, was held scoreless in the 2nd and 3rd quarters for the Celtics.
